A natural agate moon, hand-cut from Brazilian agate and mounted on a display stand. Agate is a banded chalcedony — layered over millions of years as silica-rich water slowly deposited minerals in rings and pockets within volcanic rock. The result is those distinctive concentric bands, and wherever a cavity formed, sparkling druzy quartz crystals grew.

Cut into a crescent and lit from the side, that layering becomes something worth looking at for a long time. Each moon is fully unique — the banding pattern, color, and placement of druzy pockets can't be replicated.
